ShareMouse can occasionally check if a new software version is available on our server. If you use a proxy server, you can configure it here:
Software Update Check
We strongly recommend to keep the program up-to-date with the built-in internet update check.
To check for updates, connect your computer to the internet, click the ShareMouse tray icon and select
.Under
, the update check can be configured to only notify you about critical, minor or experimental updates:Setting | Description |

No update check | Disables automatic update check. Not recommended as you will not be informed about important bug fixes! |
Important Updates | Informs about important updates that may fix critical bugs. Recommended for companies with a conservative update policy. |
Minor Updates | Choose this setting if you want to have the very latest version, including minor improvements. |
Experimental Updates | Use only if you expect a customization provided by us or if we instructed you to configure this option for technical support purposes. |
Beta versions | Informs about ShareMouse beta versions. |
ShareMouse can optionally download software updates and install them automatically the next time you start the program. If an update is no longer included in your maintenance, you can cancel the installation.
Mac users, heads up! You must confirm authorization of ShareMouse in macOS after installation a software update: Uncheck the existing ShareMouse item and check-mark it again under
- Make sure to exit ShareMouse before updating this setting as otherwise mouse clicks may not work anymore.ShareMouse must be allowed to pass through your firewall to check for software updates.
The installation of software updates requires administrator rights.
All clients of the same computer group must have the same version number. You cannot mix old with newer versions. Before updating the first client, make sure, that all client's operating systems are supported by the newer ShareMouse version (see download page for system requirements).
